Mayfest

Since 1986, our annual Mayfest has provided funding for repair and maintenance projects. It emphasizes teamwork on the part of staff and residents, helps bring the attention of the community to the important work of The Men's Center in fighting substance abuse, and aids The Men's Center in identifying new sources of support for improvements and expansion.

The Mayfest is an annual celebration of sobriety, with speakers, entertainment, raffles, food, laughter, the love of friends and AA fellowship. Mayfest takes place the first Saturday of May each year. As Bill Wilson, founder of Alcoholics Anonymous said, "We commenced to make many fast friends and a fellowship has grown up among us of which it is a wonderful thing to feel part of."

Ride for Recovery

"For many years, alcohol and drug dependency was viewed as a moral issue versus a disease. People often felt ashamed of their addiction and hid both the problem and solution. Today it is time to celebrate recovery as well as help those who still suffer from this devastating disease."
These were the thoughts behind the creation of Houston's Ride for Recovery each September during National Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Recovery Month.
